C1 Paramedic Training

C1  training with ATTS Driver Training

If you want to become an ambulance driver you will need to first pass your C1 driving test. At Bridgend based ATTS Driver Training, we have everything you need to get your career path off to the right start. We offer C1 paramedic training .

Category C1 licence

Category C1 allows drivers to drive vehicles weighing between 3,500 and 7500kg (with a trailer up to 750kg).

Pre 1 January 1997

You should have Category C1 on the back of your driving licence, followed by 107. This is a restriction code that will not allow you to tow more than 750kg. You will need to take the C1+E test to lift the restriction code 107 which will then allow you to tow a combination up-to 12000kg.

Post 1 January 1997

You may not have C1 on the back of your licence. To take the C1 test you must have a full Category B licence and be at least 18 years of age. Contact ATTS Driver Training for more information.

Paramedics training

C1 paramedic training

To become a paramedic you must complete an ambulance driver training course which allows you to drive patients to hospital in emergencies.

Before starting one of our driving course we take into consideration your individual requirements and structure the course around you.

You will be trained on how to perform safety checks on the vehicle to ensure it is safe for road use.

You will also be trained on how to drive heavy vehicles safely while ensuring you remain in complete control at all times. Different manoeuvres will be taught to ensure you are highly skilled and capable of safely driving an ambulance and passing your test.

On passing your test you will receive a C1 licence that enables you to apply for the ambulance services.

The Ambulance Driver test consists of:
  • Checking both parts your driving licence (photo card and paper counterpart)
  • Five vehicle safety questions
  • Reversing manoeuvre
  • General road driving
  • Independent driving at high speeds
